Grooming is often overlooked by many men. We just tend to focus on the visible head and beard hair, but it is equally important to focus on the less visible areas of your body as well.

Now, when I saw all those designs as a newbie, I was quite overwhelmed and confused regarding which one to choose.

So, well, I picked up one of each design to test, analyze, and create a guideline for you to follow.

The thing I focused the most on is the cutting system of the trimmer. This decides whether your trimmer is actually good or not. For example, if you need a trimmer to shave your pubic hair, the cutting system must be in accordance to the length and type of that hair.

Now I have mentioned a classification below to help you understand things more clearly. This division is solely based on my personal experience with various body hair trimmers for men.

Trimmers Composed of Typical Shearing Blades

This is the first classification, and you have surely seen these regular trimmers everywhere. Their cutting system basically has two overlapping blades. 

One is a static one, while the other one moves freely. These body hair trimmers are quite similar to hair clippers.

The only major distinction is that these are designed specifically for the hair on your body, while the latter are mostly used for head hair. 

Now, as with every grooming tool, these trimmers also have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. As promised earlier, I will be discussing both. 

The pros include the fact that you can use these body hair trimmers for all sorts of hair. And by all, I mean, any length or type of hair. 

The blades will never clog and will actually last you longer than any other grooming tool. You will not even have to replace them frequently. (this saves a lot of time trust me on this)

Coming towards the cons, these body hair trimmers for men are quite likely to hurt you if you do not take caution. 

Your skin could get nicked or even bleed, specifically in sensitive regions like the armpits or groin. 

So, do not consider yourself a hero and use these without a guard. Placing a guard on the blades is vital and many of these do come with a reliable guard, so you will be good.

One reliable and easily available model particularly in Delaware and Connecticut is the Philips Body Groomer. The thin perforated foil element of this groomer caught my attention at first glance, and I’ll be reviewing it in more detail later, so keep going. 

Let me tell you how these body trimmers work. They usually possess a second cutter, working along with the foil element. 

This second cutter manifests itself in the form of shearing blades. (you can view it in the picture given below as well.)

The entire system works miraculously to give you a close and precise shave without any nicks. The two blades are fitted with rounded teeth that make the shaving process much more comfortable for you.

Now, we come towards the second type: push-style body trimmers. These trimmers are fitted with basic shearing blades. They are held differently from the former type, and you have to push the tool towards your hair. (refer to the image below for a clear picture):

Now, a word of caution from my side. If you try to shave your groin area with a push style groomer, you are inviting nicks and rashes. 

If you really want to do it, make sure to have a guard on the blades. 

Not just that, the entire process will also be extremely tiring and time-consuming. 

With that being said, what are push style trimmers good for then? 

In my experience, these trimmers are best suited to shave the body hair at varying lengths. 

Confused? Well, simply, if you wish to trim your hairy legs, arms, back or chest, use a push style trimmer, and you will be good to go!

Straight off the bat, this model is a step up from the Bodygroom 5000, but it comes with its own quirks.

Now, Philips touts this as the be-all-end-all solution for all your grooming needs below the neck, and honestly, they aren’t far off the mark. 

Waterproof and featuring a 4D pivoting head, the 7000 is designed to glide over your contours seamlessly. 

On one end, you’ve got the hybrid foil & blades head (similar to the 5000), perfect for those close shaves. On the other end, a trimmer with varied settings awaits your grooming commands.

Here’s the kicker: its dual-head design. For me, this is where the magic happens. The swiveling head makes tackling the challenging terrain of the groin, dare I say it, a pleasure. 

It’s like having a GPS system that understands the landscape of your body. And having tried both the 5000 and the 7000, when it comes to those sensitive areas, the latter is my champ!

Founded in 2018, it’s a newbie on the block, but don’t let that fool you. I took a chance on their flagship product, “The Trimmer,” and here’s the lowdown on my experience.

First impressions? Sleek, cordless, and boasting a waterproof design. This means it’s equally good for a quick trim at the sink or a full session in the shower. 

They’ve partnered with Lumin, known for skincare, which already set some high expectations for me.

Now, let’s talk blades. Instead of the usual stainless steel, The Trimmer features flexible ceramic blades.

I remember my previous misadventures with standard razors, especially down south, and the countless near-miss accidents that gave me more chills than thrills. 

So, making the switch was an absolute game-changer! 

My initial run with Meridian’s ceramic blades delivered a nick-free, gentle, and comfortable shave. Exactly what they promised.

One shave, two shaves, a third, and even a fourth, I was curious if the magic would wear off. But over a few weeks, with minimum maintenance, each experience remained consistently impressive.

One feature that genuinely blew me away was the DualCut technology. The self-sharpening blades are the real deal. 

No exaggerations here, after months of use, they’re still as sharp as they were on day one. Plus, those blades being sharp for three years? Talk about a long-term investment.

Now, let’s talk about versatility. The trimmer promises an all-in-one solution for beard, head, body, and face hair styling. And boy, does it deliver! 

The 14 reinforced trimming guards ensure an even trim every single time, whether you’re going for that rugged beard look or just a subtle stubble.
